Greek language courses

Holidays in Sougia in a nutshell… Sun, sea, the beach right in front of you. A walk in the area or a boat trip to a lonely beach. Greek salad on a terrace. In short: plenty of time to relax. And the opportunity to learn Greek. The most efficient and motivating but also the nicest way is to learn Greek in Greece, where the language is all around you. Greeks appreciate it very much when visitors try to speak their language. And they are always in for a chat. Old men in the shadow of a centuries old tree; the innkeeper of the kafeneion; the papas, the priest, in his black soutane; women on wooden chairs on the pavement in the morning sun; the owner of your favourite taverna with all his questions…Lots of possibilities to talk Greek. With a few words Greek only you already have a different contact to the people, the unique chance to get to know genuine Greece.

In Sougia there are various possibilities to learn Greek. You can choose among different courses, depending on your knowledge of Greek and your individual needs: Basic Greek, Advanced Greek and Greek Individual (more detailed information below). The course „Basic Greek” is systematically followed up by the course “Advanced Greek“. And of course also this summer there is the special course Greek for Children.

With the help of the specially developed course materials and clear practical exercises you will learn the basic principles of Greek. Additionally you will be provided with detailed background information about Greece, the inhabitants, their traditions and feasts and daily life.

We work in small groups in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with a professional teacher. There is ample attention to individual requirements and plenty of time for repetition, exercise and questions.

Since each session of the offered language courses lasts 3 hours, the rest of the day you are free to enjoy all other things the country offers.

Greek individual

The lessons of the course Greek Individual are organised according to your own wishes.
There can be various reasons why you’d prefer individual lessons to participating a group course. You may already have knowledge of the language and just want to refresh and/or extend that. Or you might only want some conversation exercises or extra explanation of grammatical issues.
The free time disposal may as well be motivating, since these lessons are shorter than the regular courses, 1 ½ hour per lesson.
What ever the reason may be, in this course all matters can be raised as long as the Greek language is concerned.

Duration: 1 ½ hour per lesson.
Time: All year.
Price: € 25 per person per lesson

Greek for children

Many children like it to learn some Greek during their holidays in Greece. In the summer 2011 there is a special course again:

You learn reading and writing the Greek alphabet, greetings, how to introduce yourself, the time, counting, all about eating and drinking, the names of animals and many more.
We play different games in which you learn how to say things in Greek. And of course you can propose yourself what ever you‘d like to learn. As long as it is Greek!

Duration: 1 ½ hour per lesson.
Time: April - November - by appointment.
Price: € 20 per person per lesson
